2008 Preemie Cup Regatta

General Regatta Information

In 2008 we will continue with the successful format used in 2007. There will be 3 big-boat classes: Double-handed non-spin and spin; Spinnaker with more than 2 aboard, and Non-Spin with more than 2 aboard. The big-boats will have a steeple-chase in Pensacola Bay. While the big-boats are racing we will also be running Lasers (and any other class, including open class, that brings at least 4 boats to the line) in a series of W/L races. All classes will start on Santa Rosa Sound north of Ft. Pickens Gate Park beach.

We are requesting a $50 donation to the Sacred Heart Foundation to race. With your donation you will receive 2 regatta t-shirts, food, and some more stuff in addition to some good racing. When you Register you become eligible for a Goodie-Bag, 2 regatta T-shirts, and 2 tickets to the Preemie Cup Regatta Silent Auction at the Fish House starting at 1800 Thursday 24 April. People who pre-register by before Sunday, 19 April, by leaving a completed registration form and check at PBYC will be able to pick up their tickets at the ‘Will-Call” table at the Silent Auction. If someone wishes to bring their registration form and check to the Silent Auction they will be accepted at Will-Call, too. T-shirts, goodie bags, and Sailing Instructions are to be picked up during Registration at PBYC 1800-1900 Friday 25 April 2008.

The Schedule:

• Thursday, 24 April - Silent Auction at the Fish House starting at 1800
• Friday, 25 April - Registration (1800-1900) & Skippers’ Meeting (1900) @ PBYC
• Saturday, 26 April - 1st Start at 1200
  Awards to follow at 1700 Saturday

Because this is a charity event; the Preemie Cup Regatta Perpetual Trophy will be awarded to the boat, or person, that donates the greatest monetary amount to the Sacred Heart Foundation through the regatta. A take home trophy will be given and the winner will have their name placed on the perpetual trophy. You need not be present to win so you can participate even if you are not in town race weekend! Donations can be made via the Preemie Cup Regatta Donation box at PBYC, mail, or during registration.
