Management and Rules
The race will be sailed under the management of the PBYC
Race Committee and will be governed by the current Racing Rules of
Sailing (RRS), the prescriptions of US Sailing, GYA Offshore Racing
Council General Recommendations Governing Offshore Racing and the 2008
Pensacola Bay Sailing Instructions, except as modified by this Notice of
Race.
Classes
GYA PHRF handicapping Spinnaker, Non-Spinnaker (long
course and short course) and Portsmouth Multi-Hull classes will be
sailed under GYA PHRF handicapping. A minimum of three entries are
required to make a class. Class divisions will be announced at the
Skippers’ Meeting.

*Each entry must be represented at the Skippers’ Meeting. The entry of
any yacht not represented at the Skippers’ Meeting may be rejected by
the RC. This statement acts as notice and reason per RRS 76.1.
Entries and Fees
Entries may be submitted via email, by mail or at the
Skippers’ Meeting but must be received by the entry deadline of 1900,
Friday, August 15, 2008. Mailed entries should be sent to Jo Dee
Cattrell, Pensacola Beach Yacht Club, PO Box 1112, Gulf Breeze, FL,
32562.
Cost of the Regatta is $30.00 (with current US Sailing membership card)
and $35.00 (non-US Sailing members). An additional late fee of $10.00
will be charged to any skipper who wants to register after the close of
registration (1900, Friday, August 15, 2008), including on the water.
Prior notification via phone or email to the Fleet Captain stating the
intention to race, with follow-up registration on the water, will not be
considered late registration.
Any yacht that has not paid or made arrangements with the RC to pay the
entry fee prior to the start of the race will be scratched from the
entry list. This statement acts as notice and reason per RRS 76.1.
Scoring
Race scoring will be based on the lowest corrected time.
Trophies
Trophies will be awarded for first, second and third
places in each class. First in Fleet will be awarded if there are two or
more divisions in a class. The Big Mouth Award to winner of that
competition; Skunk Flag to the last finisher in that class.
Special Notes
1. PHRF Big Mouth entries may not use spinnakers or bloopers, or other similar sails. There is not limit to the number of jibs or mainsails raised at any one time, but the sails must be attached to the mast or headstay in the manner designed. The winner of the monohull Big Mouth award will be the first PBYC boat to finish in the non-spinnaker class sailing the long course to the sea buoy.
Multihulls are not required to honor the shoal marks identified in the Pensacola Bay Sailing Instructions. The winner fo the multihull Big Mouth award will be the first PBYC boat to finish in the multihull class sailing the long course to the sea buoy.
Race Committee will stay on station until the last boat finishes or 5:00pm, whichever comes first. After such time, boats shall finish themselves at the designated finish line and call their time in to the Race Committee.
Creative Wager Award: There will be a prize for the most creative wager between two boats as judged by the Race Committee. The wager must be completed before the award ceremony commences on Saturday afternoon.
